15284151 No.15284151 [Reply] [Original]

>“Women are directly adapted to act as the nurses and educators of our early childhood, for the simple reason that they themselves are childish, foolish, and short-sighted—in a word, are big children all their lives, something intermediate between the child and the man, who is a man in the strict sense of the word.”

You can't refute this.

And the fact that a man writing about women in Frankfurt in 1840 makes so much sense to a man reading in a different country in 2020 is (part of the) proof that gender is absolutely not a social construct. Schoppy's insights will still ring true in another 200 years and more.

it's not like it's a mystery, aristotle said similar things over 2000 years ago. Really anyone can just observe it for themselves

The tone of Schopenhauer's writing about women sounds bitter though.

>> No.15284681

>>15284619

I would say it sounds bitter in the same way that someone with a good character would describe living in a world full of bad people.

Schopey is a genius. I'm sure he was irritable, but the more intelligent you are, the harder it is to find a true counterpart on the other side that can understand you completely. He was well traveled, rich, and a decent looking guy when he was young, so I would just assume he was too smart for his own good with women and just gave up.

>This is just the view which the ancients took of woman, and the view which people in the East take now; and their judgment as to her proper position is much more correct than ours, with our old French notions of gallantry and our preposterous system of reverence—that highest product of Teutonico-Christian stupidity. These notions have served only to make women more arrogant and overbearing; so that one is occasionally reminded of the holy apes in Benares, who in the consciousness of their sanctity and inviolable position, think they can do exactly as they please.

he actually has written about this in a small piece in parerga and paralipomena II. He talks about the relation between intellect and will and what happens when person's intellect exceeds will and vice versa. he says that for a normal/balanced life will and intellect should be existing in same amounts. he also says that if intellect exceeds the will by high amount you will ultimately end up prone to miserability. he used himself and goethe as an example

i’m asking because i want to know if he thinks women have some kind of biological connection to childishness or short-sightedness. it was an earnest question, though it may have come off as unduly hostile. i was looking to have a discussion about this behavior in women being socially rewarded vs. the behavior being innate, because i do think this is sort if a twofold issue of nature not acting alone/being helped along by society. i figured by asking what he meant by saying “not a social construct” would open that up.

Married anon here, 25 year veteran.
It is simple biology.
Just going through their period every month makes all of them become wonky and inconsistent with the rest of their month: some of them become downright irrational and even vicious. And menopause can be like that, only on steroids, for years. That is why many cultures have primogeniture, especially when it comes to inheriting political power!

ah, interesting - thanks for your input. i do agree that PMS symptoms do significantly alter many women's behaviors, but i wonder if there's some way to stop rewarding babyish behavior. i'm not talking about the less odious characteristics of femininity such as gentleness etc. but the fact that women are not held to any standards to speak of—they're allowed to be functionally retarded which prohibits them from being able to fully realize their potential, and i want to believe they have potential. because men (and other women) expect nothing, women do nothing. men expect irrationality, women behave irrationally. men accept women's half-formed thoughts and indulge them as though they're scholars on whatever they just spitballed out, women believe they're excelling at everything. do you see what i mean about indulgence? there has to be some kind of fix for this!

The fact that it would be welcome relief to return to a society with as strict an arrangement of gender roles as existed in the Europe of Schopenhauer is a testament to the near complete degeneration of the West. We've let women utterly destroy our institutions, and in the matter of decades our whole civilization is collapsing. Genius has disappeared from universities. Businesses have been turned into brothels. Social alienation is the new norm. Blah blah blah. And all the rest of it. But you can't blame women because the reality is that they are like children. They have a deep pathetic need to be stopped, to be dominated and restrained. But like everything else with women, this truth can't be spoken out loud or even acknowledged. So that the only real means of reversing course is for Western man to grow a pair of balls. Women will never respect weak men, and weak societies will always be at the mercy of strong societies. How much longer before the Spell is Broken?
