Murakami kinda blows. He's tolerable in his shorter works but I can't imagine reading 1000 pages of him.

The military reports stop after like the first 100 pages. There's only 3 or 4 of them in total.
Also I'm the complete opposite, I found Nakatas story pretty uninteresting, but really enjoyed the parts with Kafka.
