Oscar Wilde Appreciation Thread.

Just finished the full collection of his short stories and loved them. Going to the Library tomorrow to pick up the Picture of Dorian Gray. Anything remotely similar?

No.

There's really no one even comparable to Wilde, imo.

Do you like analyzing books and shit? If so, then you should also pick up Ways of Seeing, W. J. T. Mitchell's Picture Theory, Discipline and Punish, and maybe some Walker Percy.

I'm not sure if you've read any of those guys stuff, but their work is very, very relevant to analyzing Oscar Wilde, and it's fascinating reading Picture of Dorian Gray after reading their essays.

Man, why don't people on here read The Importance of Being Earnest? I know y'all aren't leaving the house to go see theater productions

"Earnest" is really good. "Dorian Gray" sucks.

That was the first work by Wilde I read. Shortly after, I bought this collection. His grasp of language is incredibly delightful!
