There is this trend on /lit/ of people who shill a single book or author, and they all do it in the same eerie evangelizing way that obviously puts off potential readers and discussants. This makes there threads 404 faster which for some reason makes them even worse.

I don't understand the mind of a shill. What aspect of psychology is this? Why are they all the same format? Why is it always just a picture of the book or author, with a gnomic, worshipful, slightly pompous statement about its importance, even though this causes the threads to die rapidly each time?
