Did you find any other books by him? It's the only one I ever saw in real life..

Most of his scholarly work isn't available in English. He was also killed when he was 41, so he didn't write as much as he might have.

Was he better than Eliade?

Some say so, but I think it's a matter of taste. For me, both are great in different ways.

That sort of title promises a lot. I expect to understand how magic and love were understood and their influence in the medieval world. Instead you’ll get some document analysis of one or two things the authors covered in their PhD thesis— neither of which are sufficient to make the sort of grandiose arguments they inevitably make. It is all so tiresome.

Yeah, I know exactly what you’re saying. So many disappointing books that fit that mold. Scholarly culture has really stifled creativity. No one has the balls to go out on a limb and take intellectual risks. Everyone wants to stay within the safe academic citation zone. That’s why I deeply respect authors like Jorjani, even though he sometimes says things that are pants on head retarded or just cringe, still the guy has some balls to write that kind of stuff as a contemporary academic (though semi recently from academia)

PC edgelord.

Let's see him do a smack-down on Islam.

Or a smack-down on Dawkins from a Christian perspective.

*That* would take balls.

The tweet you posted? Not so much, if at all.

Stanzas by Giorgio Agamben might be of interest to you guys. That’s one of my favorite books of all time and got me into medieval/renaissance thought

rl crumb drew funny caricatures of biblical stories. he's saying anyone who worships yaweh is a ridiculous caricature or should be caricaturized. i think the real point of the tweet was just to show off his new book tho
