I thought of picking something penned by Thich Nhat Hanh, but it's so late, I'm tired, can't decide and I wanna hit the bed already. I'm basically very new to buddhism, although I used to meditate for almost half a year.

Don't read books, just check out Yuttadhammo Bikkhu's youtube channel. Thousands upon thousands of videos by an actual monk, palatable for westerners. You'll learn everything there is to learn.
