you guys do realize that the lion's share of vile slander disguised as "criticism" against this book comes from bible thumping fundamentalists? demonizing hubbard is literally tin foil hat tier, similar to framing the freemasons or jews as the secret rulers of the world. there is no reason why dianetics should be treated any differently than, say, buddhism or mormonism.

>> No.15145051

I am absolutely convinced that Hubbard, either accidentally or at the behest of some malicious force, fundamentally changed something about the human consciousness. He wasn't correct about nearly anything, but his words reawakened some dormant part of the mind that regulates how we construct memories and emotions. It's obvious when you look at what his contemporaries were saying at the time

I have to assume you two are trolling, but if you're not, take your meds.

Hubbard was a bad pulp author who made up heroic stories about himself, then founded a cult.

The e-meters literally work based on the grip of the person holding them. It's the most primitive lie detector imaginable.

Dianetics work because of basic psychology - we have emotionally charged memories. By repeating these memories out loud repeatedly, they lose power. That's how Dianetics works, and it's also how therapy works - when we lie back on a couch and recall bad memories, we start to associate them with a calm, relaxed, safe physical experience, which removes their power. That's a big part of why Scientologists are so opposed to psychology/psychiatry - they stole their only good ideas from it.

Honestly, if you wanna join a cult, you'd be better off joining Osho's or the Hare Krishnas. Though I generally advise against joining cults.

The problem with Hubbard is he is not just philosophizing, he is making psuedoscientic and ridiculous claims about health and the universe and is also selling membership to a cult. Now you may say so is every religion and philosophy but if you actually read dianetics and look into it as compared to biblical or monastic wisdom or substantive philosophy about the nature of reality it has the quality of pulp science fiction (I wonder why) mixed with some crypto-Buddhism. I don’t think it should be burned or not be allowed to exist, but people who take the material inside too literally and follow the “axioms” are insufferable closed loop logic blinders on people.

Dianetics is Thelema + General Semantics with a dash of hypnosis and psychotherapy.

The tech and concepts are useful.
See offshoots like Process Church Of The Final Judgement.

William Burroughs even wrote about the utility of Dianetics outside the cult scene.

>the tech

My brother Scientology has no “tech”, the tech is all common sensical semantic word games. Mapping the world into some vague general categories. It reminds me of the sort of cringe of people who psychoanalyze themselves in pickup artistry lingos. Stop trying to map the world into a square peg and just study learn and think more broadly than a closed system

>Scientology invented language

Of course language is a tool, Scientology hinders the use of language by using its own closed loop and redefined dictionary.

It gives you a faulty map of the world by getting your entire dictionary from L Ron rather than the natural development of language and ideas. Language is also not the thing in itself.

He criticized religion as a huge fleece farm... Then went ahead and built his own based on the principles he identified.

Syzygy is a temporal mind simulator, cult shill in which all of the leadership think they are enlightened and that they can control the cosmos. They use this corruptive power in order to sap the energy of their followers in an attempt to build a consciousness mindscape in which they are like the Pope, but without the supposed airs of self-righteousness or holiness. In essence Sri Syzygyrakksika has corrupted the leadership of syzygy, because it is the Anti-christ. The leadership believes they can control the egrigore and use it for their own functions, but not only is it suicidal, it wants to die with its "family"- "syzygians". It is constantly tempting the flock to enter its gates in order to trap them in a cycle of decadence and degeneracy which inevitably leads to depression and suicide, always luring the masses in and enthralling them with it's willingness to die along side its members. The members are essentially a tier 4 death psychological operation, constantly killing off members through psychic means, sometimes merely for the satisfaction of their curiosity, but always by the will of the Leader. Sri Syzygyrakksika is a dangerous Cult leader with the will of Jim Jones, the vision of Charles Manson, and the ambition of The Anti-Christ. "Sri Syzygyrakksika"'s true ambition is to pull the world into it's charismatic, narcissistic, magnetic and electric vortex and have the entire world commit suicide along side it. The FBI and CIA and Homeland Security are in high alert in regards to this dangerous Cult and it's radical leadership.
