friendly reminder that kant was an empiricist, and that there is not opposition between empiricism and rationalism, but the former is a consequence of the latter. kant is the sigil on western and therefore human metaphysics, there is no possible progress after him.

Whilst, on the one hand, the allegedly purely scientific interests are rigid channels and are frequently neutralizations of extra‑scientific interests which, in their weakened form, extend into science, the scientific body of instruments, on the other hand, which provides the canon of what is scientific, is also instrumental in a manner in which instrumental reason has never dreamt. This body of instruments is the means for answering questions which both originate beyond science and strive beyond it.
