It's meant to grab your attention. The book aims to debunk metaphysical materialism and it does that well. The claim that there is no true death is auxiliary to the metaphysic he suggests as an alternative.

The book is absolute dogshit. Just opened the preview on amazon to get a glimpse.

The man quite argues (quite seriously) that materialism cannot explain why a person hallucinates when there is restricted blood flow to the brain, or why how they can be having psychedelic hallucinations if overall EEG activity is damped under LSD. He believes this demonstrates materialism is false.

I felt vicarious embarrassment reading it.

Listen Bernardo. If you want to engage me seriously on this topic, I would appreciate it if your book didn't begin with a section on how society is tricking me into being a materialist, and instead actually just engaged with the topic at hand.

Second, anybody who describes themselves in their amazon author bio as "leading a renaissance" sounds much more like someone who desperately craves intellectual validation than someone with genuine intellectual curiosity.

Third, I know you wrote a whole book, but if the first argument I see in it is such a laughable non sequitur I just can't hold out hope to read this thing. There are so many good books on philosophy but I've never read a good one that started out by saying something retarded.

Holy shit Bernardo did you seriously get the guy who wrote "Proof of Heaven" and sells magical mindfulness mp3s on the internet to blurb your *philsophy* book? Jesus fucking Christ Bernardo exercise some judgment.

Notice that materialism-hatred usually stems from resenting scientists and STEM. Materialism is an entirely valid theory depending on the way you define "material", not that materialism-haters care about this, for they are just looking for pseudointellectual validation by trying to interpret a false "depth" into things, hate the popularity of the scientific interpretation of the world, and also it's wonderful reductionism because it exposes their own lack of knowledge, and hate civilization and technology because they are declining in it.
