The whole idea of "memes" is really stupid.
You want to talk about language and thought as if it is analogous with genes, but there is a pretty huge disanalogy, namely that language and thought are creative products: one can set about to craft words, and one has a choice in what word one will choose to express an idea.

So applying natural selection to language is stupid, because language is intelligently designed by human beings.
