All thinking is ultimately derived from the past, from the knowledge passed down to you, which then projects and speculates on the future. You can never think about the present because it's already gone, the 'present' is being filtered through thought, all you see is thought, you don't actually see what you're looking at. The eye never sees itself, not eve it's reflection, it only sees it's afterimage. In order for the eye to see itself it must be without the attribute of sight at all, a blind observer.
