Shilling Concierto Barroco and Gracián; the rest are somewhat obvious (Don Quixote, 100 Years, Rubén Darío, Canto General, etc.). Shame some of the previously stated books weren't taken into account. Particularly La guerra al final del mundo, easily Vargas-Llosa's finest.

Also, mostly unrelated. OuP you really must step up your game with the thread image; instead of posting unaesthetic memes you ought to try to display the peak of our culture. If you would allow me I'd like to share a handful of images that I'd recommend to create more dignified thread façades.

Who else has or is reading La Galatea by Cervantes? It's nothing like I expected it to be. First, it opens with love sick singing shepherds. Then, as they are singing about Galatea, some guy gets stabbed to death right in front of them lmfao

I am absolutely lost on young writers from Spain.

Is there somewhere I can hear about them? Fb page, Instagram profile, magazine... A bar in Malasaña is good enough, lol.

What are you saying anon? Ormsby is, by a wide margin. Grossman's is the equivalent of a John-Greenification of Cervantes.

Recommend Spaniards comparable in quality and style to Brian Ó Nualláin, Patrick Kavanagh and Brendan Behan, please.

Here is your favour, anon, gladly returned in thanks of your bump, in acknowledgement of this thread's worthiness and in memory of Ireland's and Spain's past alliances.

Desu the best way I've found to find new and good contemporary literature has been following some contemporary authors or academics I like on twitter. Some academics and authors have some books on contemporary writing which I've found useful too. So I guess just find someone you enjoy who is writing in the moment and go from there.
However I'm also not so immersed in contemporary spanish literature, there are some which have caught my attention but I have not read them, and I'm under the impression that Spain's literary production right now is not as important as the one of other latin american countries. But this could easily have to do with the fact that I'm not as interested in their literature that much, at least not as much as latam lit.

Chartanon here. I've started working on "Introduction to Borges" but I've realised something. Most of Borges' essays are written in Spanish, so I don't know if I should really add them because then it would alienate the non-spanish speakers. What do you guys think?

Absolutely add them, his one on Quevedo convinced me of the mastery od said author and gave me an entirely new appreciation of auric Spanish prose.
