None of them. Simpson’s has always been lame and unfunny it’s just that recently it’s gotten lame and unfunny with intolerable characters

Another example of hamfisted humour. It’s like every simpsons joke or gag they have to make sure to hammer it to make it beyond any doubt that even the dumbest viewer will get it. I’m not expecting “high brow” humour of the simpsons or any other cartoon show or anything pretentious of the sort but there are much subtler and funnier ways of doing silly humour

I mean even Monty Python did absurdly slapstick humour without needing to hammer down every individual joke until it outstayed it’s welcome or made you say “okay we fucking get it” before they’ve even gotten to the punchline

Eh I guess it’s cool they made a gravity’s rainbow reference

They had Thomas Pynchon on so maybe that episode. It seems like Matt Groening had tastes that predicted what would be popular on 4chan since his favourite album was also Trout Mask Replica I think.

Never was a big fan of their sketches and yes they were generally more on the nose but at least they didn’t hammer every gag down. Simpson’s just feels incredibly repetitive. Even when my cousins would always put it on when we were kids it felt repetitive and boring, I really don’t see the appeal of it. Futurama was far better (still not the biggest fan of it but at least it didn’t feel the need to make sure that every single joke didn’t go unnoticed or kept going on with the same gag for too long like the Peter Griffin hurting his knee gag always does)

?? If you dislike the Simpsons, I don't see how you can think this. It's just the Simpsons in attenuated form. Can you give an example of a Simpsons gag that is generally thought of as funny, but that you think is shit?

I’m afraid none of them are memorable enough, I just remember always watching with a straight face. I genuinely enjoy silly and slapstick humour, many of my favourite comedies are far from “intelligent” but something about the Simpson’s humour has always seemed to me like only an early pubescent or Bart simpson would find genuinely funny beyond the occasional exhalation of air from the nose

Also the fact it is an attenuated form as you say is what makes it far superior. It’s not that Simpson’s brand of humour is unappealing to me, it’s just that too often I feel like saying “alright alright we get it already”

>> No.15061558

really it's satire. there are goofs and gags (which are funny) but it's not really a monty python type show. have you watched it since you were a kid? you might get it better now

Honestly, Futurama is better than the Simpsons. But maybe it is just because it is targeted to the pathetic losers that populate 4chan, with all its young adult humor and geek references.

Obviously it is just a sitcom, but there are things a kid will miss. It was a relatively clever show. If you literally cannot remember a single detail, my guess is you probably were just too young when you last saw it

>If you literally cannot remember a single detail, my guess is you probably were just too young when you last saw it
Probably, then again maybe I’m too old for it now though. I think I just missed the window for it, suppose it doesn’t matter too much. Lots of these types of shows maintain their appeal into adulthood by having a sense of nostalgia attached to them. Or maybe I’ve just turned into a jaded bastard
