I just finished a big biography of Emily Dickinson and have been reading a lot of her poems. It’s great to read how she used her circumstances to generate volcanic turmoil and passion in her soul that she then put on the page, forming obsessive crushes on older married guys she barely met, or on queen bee girls, including her sister in law.
I think she wasn’t crazy and it was all deliberate, giving her fuel to write while she lived the ultimate NEETette lifestyle.
