Discussion of esotericism and/or occultism. Both eastern and western traditions welcome. Anything goes; antiquity to post-modernity.

so what are your thoughts on tarot? I've been getting into collecting decks for the artwork before the pandemic and doing a reading every day instead of journaling. I know it doesn't really influence anything but I read tarot cards as archetypes that always apply to everyone in any situation, and it's just up to you to puzzle out how they all fit together for your question or life. I like it when other people do readings for me, too, because it really gives me a sense of how other people see me.

i really like reading tarot, but i haven’t in some time due to lack of a deck. readings are a great opportunity for introspection, but doing readings for others is also really nice (like you said, it gives you a chance to demonstrate how you perceive others and vice versa). i got into tea leaves and astrology for similar reasons—this stuff is a lot of fun and while quarantined reading charts/leaves/cards is a good way to practice quiet reflection.

It's way cool! Have you read Tomberg or Jodorowski? Crowley is most famous but there are many other good authors like Wang et al for hermeticism. But I must admit that sometimes you just get garbage readings. I-ching is a bit more reliable IMO. For serious readings at least. I do however also enjoy collecting tarot for artwork.

I was dismissive until getting a spookily accurate reading

I don't know what to think, mate. Someone at /x/ read the tarot for me and I asked about my future and the tarot guy replied "so you want to be a writer? because that's that it says here..." It was kind of spooky.
