Only retards who have never touched a gun in their life believe the
>It was an accident! He was cleaning his gun!
This is what cops tell the family of suicide victims so they don't lose it.
Same with
>He lost control of the car and crashed into a tree
It's always on purpose, but they know npc family members can't handle the truth

It's actually usually said by family members because an accidental death will receive payout from more life insurance policies than suicide will.

Maybe in cases where the family has the first say
But if they are notified, and there is no reason to make it worse for them (suspicious circumstances etc.), then they just tell them it was an accident.
When someone drives their car into a tree on purpose, the firefighters who go to the wreck say it was an accident, because there isn't much point in saying otherwise.
Think about it, does the frequency of people legitimately losing control of their car and the frequency of people plowing directly into trees make any sense when comparing the probabilities of them both happening?
Firstly, what even is "losing control" of a car?
Secondly, if it was truly an accident every time, it would appear that cars become some sort of tree-seeking missile when the driver isn't in control.
I know someone who has spoken to firefighters about this.
Same thing with people "slipping" of a cliff.
I have a family who married an absolute scumbag, and they went to a beach with a cliff, and she fell off.
The official story to this day is that she "slipped", even though everyone knows that he pushed her, because it's not provable.

Be that as it may, there are still different standards of evidence for different purposes, depending on whether it's a civil dispute between insurer and claimant, criminal proceedings, or for that matter what emergency services are obligated to tell any party, interested or not.
