Hello friends.

In light of the current situation and the elderly being a high risk group, I would like /lit/izens share their best book-related memories in regards to their grandparents. Any books they read to you when you were young? Recommended to you? Any books you discovered when rummaging their library?

Call your grandparents /lit/. You never know when your last chance is.

My grandparents never read to me :(

Only one of mine was alive when I was born, and she died when I was 12. Never read to me or anything like that, she didn't like books.
I've always wished I had a grandfather. I wear a watch every day that one of them left behind.

Mom and dad went to a show
They dropped me off at Grandpa Joe's
I kicked and screamed, said please don't go
Grandma take me home
Had to eat my dinner there
Mashed potatos and stuff like that
I couldn't chew my meat too good
She said, well, don't you start your crying
Go outside and ride your bike
That's what I did, I killed my toe
After dinner, I had ice cream
I fell asleep and watched TV
I woke up in my mother's arms

Grandma take me home
I wanna be alone

My grandmother took a major preceddnt in my education, for most of my life i viewed her more favourably than my own mother, fortunely maturity made me love both. She had a small personal library in her apartment, even if she never read anything to me from there I got to pick some classics from there and History books which I loved. The classics were from xixth and xxth century portuguese authors.
Ive called her a few days ago, thanks anon.

My grandfather was an English teacher so he has a lot of great books in his library. I remember seeing a lot of Ovid and Virgil. As an American, he also loved Twain and Huckleberry Finn. Very wholesome and I wish I talked to him more. Love you papa
