He became consciously, mildly schizo, but he rose rather quickly through the ranks and had his own office early on; doing insurance it was easy for him just to report to work (escape the wife) and then shut his office door: thousands of office hours were probably spent working on his verse. Not a bad set-up, really.

That honestly sounds fantastic. A plum office job with downtime to write or the ability to make it look like I’m working but actually writing. How do I make my way into a similar set-up?
