Any pop science book that teaches you how to think using the scientific method will give you the proper framework for figuring that shit out by yourself. Carl Sagan's books were the ones that did it for me when I was young, Demon Haunted World mostly.

I think in a economic way, not only with money matters. It's really a great method of evaluating some choices. Ex: is it worth going to college? Some faggs would throw emotional arguments, but you should focus on how much it's productive to your life to do so. And I say productive in a economic sense. Do you will make more money? Is it bring you more pleasure than not doing?

I haven't read it yet, but I'm a huge fan o Julia galef. Her work is basically to teach people how to make decisions and solve conflicts using rationality.
