Pretty solid as far getting reactionaries to reflect a little on their grounds (this goes for BreadTube in general). My main gripe with him is that he calls himself philosophytube but all of his content is specifically on trendy progressive politics, not philosophy as a whole. He makes videos on sex work, Brexit, race, antifa, queer theory, and abortion but you never hear him talking about anything that isn't hip. It's annoying. He does nothing but ask questions and then not answer them. If I wanted to be a pseud I'd accuse him of a shitty attempt at Socratic dialogue (which is itself bullshit) but I don't even think that's what he's doing.

It's very easy to complain about shit. Take democracy - the subject of one of his videos. It's very, very easy to complain about democracy. He hits all the main points. What's lacking in his video is historical context and alternate models. "But the focus is supposed to be narrow! That's too broad a topic!" you say. Fuck you, I say. You cannot understand democracy without placing it in its context and you cannot criticise it in a meaningful way without useful alternate models. After all, a problem that cannot be fixed is not really a problem, it's just something we have to suffer through. Meaningful criticism epistemologically requires an alternate model.

And, in the spirit of that, here's my alternate model for philosophytube: if you cut out the questions that go nowhere that you don't bother answering and the pointless tangents that distract from your central point, you WOULD have time for context and alternate models. You don't even have to present your alternate model as THE alternate model - by all means, encourage people to engage with it and criticise it and develop their own. In doing so you will model proper philosophy, and not just leave people scratching their heads at the end of your videos thinking "how the fuck can someone talk intelligently at length about important subjects for thirty minutes and yet still manage to say nothing of concrete utility".

The problem with everything I've just said is it moves from philosophy into actual politics - and we all know philosophers fucking hate politics because it reveals them for the out of touch ivory tower fagoids that they are.
