OP as far as i understand it occultism/esoterism is very similar to mysticism and traditional metaphysics. You could say that they play in the same field but with different purposes. Black magic in particular try to use the knowledge of consciousness that comes from spirituality for ego based desideres.

It’s hard to say, OP. Occultism has come to mean so many different things because it refers precisely to anything that is meant to be hidden. Whatever validity there is to certain elements would be inappropriately discussed here. I started reading a few years back and proceeded on and off mostly out of a sort of spiritual crisis to be honest. I’m far from an expert, but I can say it should be approached with seriousness and perhaps even caution because it is mostly definitely not just a game and certain elements are very real.
