Which ones are the best for someone beginning occultism ? (but with a science/philosophy background)
I was disappointed by Guenon and found Peterson to be a much better introduction

Personally I heard good things about Kenneth Grant.

Hanegraaf is a good academic take on what esotericism is. One of the three main takes aside from Guenon and Strauss.

Never read Peterson. Like Jung tho. Honestly, I got my start with Liber Null & Psychonaut but it is a dangerous and has some misinformation within it.

My take is much akin to the High Weirdness model offered by Erik Davis. There's some freaky shit out there, especially when you get mind-altering chemicals and rituals and nonhuman entities in your ontology.

Pick some books out of the list that interest you. Secondary work is often good to start.

Thundersqueak by Ramsey Dukes is a fun little treatise on chaos magic that you can read fairly quickly. One of the best, IMO.

Fun but possibly dangerous as well. Idk. Do what thou wilt as they say.

Where can those be found? I think I have PI and a small collection of major works on my shelf...

I find it hard to believe there is a work called Abrahadabra by the Greek poet sage Orpheus. Wtf is that?

>> No.14888688

>>14888654
I've only found it online unfortunately, actual copies are absolutely exorbitant. But Wittgenstein, in it, goes not only over flaming Frazer but also magic, its ritual elements. It was supposed to be the prelude to PI, really short but interesting. But yeah it's hard to find.

What's the point ? Anything you can get out of occultism can be had from religion, with the added bonus of not being a fucking weirdo.
