Is this the greatest “my diary desu” of all time?

>> No.14888345

isn't it like 5 or 6 books which each have 500 pages? is it really worth it?

I'm like 50 pages in to the first volume and everything past the first 30 pages has been REALLY fucking boring. It's chock full of dry shit like "My mother went off to study x at the university of y. That year we lived in an apartment." I am so sick of boring fiction like this.

3600 pages in six volumes, originally supposed to be one book
>is it really worth it?
that depends on what you think is worth it

not him but are there any points that justify the "lengthy parts about mundane bullshit" element besides for >it's the banality of modern life bro ?

I'm not sure what your question is. it's a long and detailed book about the guy's life. parts five and six have a fair amount of material about his writing process generally and writing my struggle in particular

The end of part one is really good. He is burying his father while cleaning out the house his father died in. It's a massive garbage dump. The cleaning is metaphorical for him confronting the memories of his father and wiping away his earthly existence. It was very powerful.

If you like reading, it's worth checking out. If you're concerned with maximizing your time-efficiency and whether it contains any nuggets of practical insights that'll change your life, make you a better man for it, and justify the invested effort and pay out in dividends of wisdom? Probably better to just avoid it.
