Is there anything that Dostoevsky didn't do better than Gogol?

Well so far Dosto is my absolute favorite author so even if Gogol ends up being just slightly worse Dosto it will still be great.

Gogol's probably a bit more descriptive than Dostoevsky, and is more intensely focused on Russian social issues, rather than on theology and philosophy. It's apples and pears, really.

Dostoevsky is my favorite author and TBK my favorite book, but Gogol's "Dead Souls" and some of his stories are better than a solid amount of Dosto's works, plus he does humour way better.

Have you read nabokov, bulgakov, and solzhenitsyn yet?

“The Nose” and “The Overcoat” are funny as hell. Like Haven’t read anything else but just from those two stories I’d say he is based. Like Rabelais, Dostoevsky, and Kafka rolled into one.

>Nabokov
Only Lolita. It was good.

>Bulgakov
Heart of a Dog. I didn't enjoy it at all.

Nothing from Solzhenitsyn yet.
