Art is work.
A cup of tea, a painting, a footstool, growing vegetables, reciting poetry.
The object is to live as a human, which is subjective.

To ennoble reality

>> No.14853958

The objective of art is to communicate something. Like all communication, it's based on context, and that context is lost over time. Old "art" is nothing more than decoration unworthy of notice. If a piece of art has managed to avoid surrendering its message for a long enough time, it has failed as art. The world is full of unsolved mysteries, so an ancient piece that has failed to communicate anything is worth no more than any random rock that has not had its path through the world meticulously tracked.

Alternatively, art is a human's failed attempt to communicate with the normalfags. They clap and hoot for the funny crying man to make another.

it doesnt work like that.

regardless, historical moments have objectives often - and they are often very explicit - go dig up vincent's letters about color theory and compliments.

after that - spend some time reading donald judd.
