What's his appeal despite being an eccentric leftist that likes pop culture? Has he actually contributed anything to philosophy or politics or whatever subject for people (generally millenial leftists) to hold to such a high standard?

His perspective on social justice and political correctness is a valuable detergent to help break up the intersectional mafia that currently has control over the left. I don’t think he’s said anything radically new, but it’s good to know there are at least some left wing intellectuals willing to challenge the kind of rhetoric that is currently preventing the left from gaining political power. SJWs have made leftist politics unpalatable to the average worker, so we could certainly do with more thinkers who don’t just blindly accept the dominant narrative.

He's funny.

He doesn't even like pop culture that much, he just likes to use examples taken from it. Not hard to figure out why. The lines he drew between Marx, Hegel, Lacan and Jesus were first of their kind and very important for contemporary leftist thought (though he is actually less popular with millennials who prefer shitting on his no-PC attitude and holding purely theoretical political views like "accelerationism") .

He correctly deduced that the fault in modern politics lies in pure ideology
