Imo Éveline is one of the few pieces of literature which actually made the hopelessness of the situation stick out to the reader and emotionally affect us. I would’ve put it quite a bit higher.

Good ranking. Don’t agree with everything obviously but nice taste. Glad The Dead and Araby are at the top respectively

Why is The Grace so low? I admit that I really enjoyed it because I know a lot of people who pretend they're Christians but just spew prosperity bible shit similar to the preacher in the story

>> No.14842373

I read Dubliners 3 or 4 years ago. The two stories that stick in my memory are:

-An Encounter: This reminded me of a Thomas Ligotti or other horror story
-Two Gallants: The bit where one of them goes for a meal of peas and ginger beer was one of the saddest things I've ever read

A Painful Case and Two Gallants are the ones that resonate with me most.
>"He felt that he had been outcast from life's feast."
I felt the same way when I first read A Painful Case.

A Painful Case is the second best story. Araby is really good tho.

I don't remember wtf happened in Grace, and Clay, and I've read this book 4 times.

that's right

>> No.14842741

I would have put Ivy Day a lot lower, but I suspect that it's unironically too deep for me

>> No.14844167

>>14842437
Grace is the one where some old faggot goes to a spiritual retreat and Clay is the one about the woman who is going to die alone

After the race is bro tier

>> No.14844205

I liked Araby a lot more than the Dead. I was reading it on the plane to Dublin and nearly cried towards the end.
