I think it’s a good choice, anon. The reality is 99% of zoomers that don’t go to hyper-elite schools are going to end up underemployed and wage slaving with decades of student loan debt just like millenials anyway. This is true for all but a minority of developers and a handful of engineers. College is still a social mobility ticket but it hasn’t been an economic mobility ticket in this millenia and I wouldn’t expect that to change. It works out to a significantly positive return over a lifetime but are you that desperate to be upper middle class? If there’s a good reason for someone with no interest or talent in STEM to spend all that time and money on it, I haven’t seen it.

This. Teenagers on here wildly exaggerate the amount of classes at the average university spent on feminist or post-colonial literature, which simply isn't true from the perspective of coursework. My school's English major only requires one class in race and social justice, and the rest consists of core, historical studies, seminars, and electives. Yeah you can make all of that SJW stuff if you want but you don't HAVE to. The average American university just isn't that strict about what you need to learn (I go to one of the stricter ones), and if you look at the hyper-leftist schools it turns out that their policies are a lot less "read women faggot" than they are "read what you want". Furthermore views like>>14838957 forget that one of the appeals of studying English is actually having the time to read good books. Because if you do get a 'useful' degree you're probably going to end up spending a lot of time on that degree, which you might hate, which was OP's problem in the first place.

Why go to college at all?

You can learn literature and English writing on your own.

Unless you are going to college for stem, you are wasting time and money and even then with stem jobs going to pajeets you may still be.

Here's what you do. Go get an apprenticeship with some trade, if I were starting over, I'd go to a school bus garage and ask them to apprentice me on diesel mechanics. Or you can do electrician apprenticeship. Whatever. So now you are getting hard earning power skills for FREE, no debt, no wasting time. You start earning early and investing early. That translate into much earlier retirement. You'll be getting a big head start. In the meantime, you are reading, writing, learning literature. It's win-win.

Skip the 4 year degree. You're welcome.
