Talking heads is dull. Nothing on that album has a gratifying hook, much less any musical or lyrical transendence. It's just some crap you'd throw on at the 80's party when people start doing coke. The only reason people speak of them is because they were in New York, or something. The Maroon 5 of the 1970s/80s.

I agree to some extent. I actually think Talking Heads are great overall but I’ve kinda felt this album is overrated to a certain degree. I’ll say there are two good tracks: “Born Under Punches” and “Once in a Lifetime.” Stop Making Sense, Fear of Music, Speaking in Tongues, True Stories, More Songs about Buildings and Food... all better albums. Sorry, now I feel like I’m just shitting on the anon that picked the album as his favorite. I still respect your taste.

I love the lyrics on New Dawn Fades

Change of speed, a change of style
A change of scene, with no regrets
A chance to watch, admire the distance
Still occupied, though you forget

Different colours, different shades
Over each mistakes were made, I took the blame
Directionless, so plain to see
A loaded gun won't set you free, so you say

We'll share a drink and step outside
An angry voice and one who cried
We'll give you everything and more
The strain's too much, can't take much more

Oh, I've walked on water, run through fire
Can't seem to feel it anymore

It was me, waiting for me
Hoping for something more
Me, see me in this time
Hoping for something else

I can't stand music. Instead of simply writing your thoughts, feelings, ideas etc you whine them into a microphone and other morons think "wow that's so deep" because there's some emotional music in the background.

At least classical music actually evokes emotion through its own composition. Music with singing in it is just cheap.
