Mind you I believe there is literary merit to Rand and enjoy her 2 novels, but Jane Austen, marguerite yourcenar, Hannah Arendt, woolf, bronte sisters, George Eliot, Edith Wharton, Mary Shelley are all better.

There's plenty of philosophical merit to her works, but not literary. Atlas Shrugged is awfully written.

I forgot flannery and Dickinson. Looks like we agreed for the most part though. I would not put zora and have no idea who those ASian writers are

Fine, I'll swap Zora for Lorraine Hansberry.

women are incapable of writing about anything more substantial than "men generally, or men other than my white knight prince, are mean and won't let me be whore!" Even the most technically skilled with their language; it is all totally vacuous.

Rand is one of the worst writers of all time and her writing and social circle is one of many things that ruined the 21st century. Not only that but she folded on her principles and betrayed her friends at the end of her life, dying alone and miserable just like she deserved. I realize this is bait so w/e

Anna Akhmatova lived through and dealt with Soviet communism in an authentic way. Her poems live on as staunchly anti-totalitarian. Rand not only fled, but wrote disingenuously and abandoned her convictions in the twilight years by accepting govermint monies and welfare. She died a fraud. The quality of her writing openly predicts this.
