Here's the problem with your line of reasoning. Literally nobody is saying that national mean IQ is going to be some hard determinant of societal progress, especially when you're talking about comparing societies of completely different scales with very minimal mean IQ differences. Iran having a 4 point difference in average IQ is not even close to enough of a difference to overcome the very large differences between Iran and Armenia on a whole host of issues beyond the nearly negligible IQ mean difference. Almost by definition IQ is very unlikely to be the causal factor when you're talking about two countries with very similar mean national IQ but very different levels of societal development. To point to a situation where it's fairly easy to eliminate IQ as the primary contributor and then say that there's no value at all is totally braindead.

If you're taking about IQ and the Wealth of Nations then you're even more confused than I previously thought. The whole book was about the question of whether GDP was an effective predictor of national IQ and discussions surrounding when it's an appropriate proxy and when it isn't. They literally argue in the book that there are often many confounding factors which prevent GDP from being an accurate mechanism to estimate national IQ including the tendency of extreme poverty to suppress national IQ beyond it's asymptotically stable range when resources are more plentiful. You're saying their "studies" are bullshit while making it blatantly apparent you've never even read a summary of the 2002 work that the "Lynn/Vanhanen studies" refers to.
