Native Russian speaker here, I’ve read all of them except for Danilevsky, Leontyev, Melnikov-Pechersky, Voloshin, Shmelev and Elizarov. Most of those writers are extremely overrated and for some reason monolingual Americlaps tend to think that they are more profound than really are.

an occasionally oddity of translated literature is when the translations actually improve the work. those like pushkin or lermontov are extremely talented and use their language to the benefit of their work, but not everyone can.
hot take: dostoy is very overrated.

Like 20% of those aren't even Russian.
Pushkin (mulatto father)
Chaadev (two a's no way that's Slavic)
Gertsen (German)
Karamzin (Kara=black in Turkish)
Tyutchev (gigaturk)
Aksakov (aks, Arabic word)
Nekrasov (Uggo tribe, lol)
Akhmatova (Achmed, need I say more)
Shestov (Jew)
Blok (Jew)
Shmelev (jew)
Bely (only whiteman in this list)
Mandelshtam (jew)
Pasternak (jew)
Babel (another jew)
Mamleev (sounds churka to me)

So it's true what they say about Russians.

I'm currently reading Demons as my first russian book, or at least I'm trying to bc it feels like a chore.
I finished chapter two like a month ago and even though I like it so far it just doesn't move me as much as I'd like to.
Idk why but I'm just not eager to finish it.
There are other books like capitalist realism, coin locker babies and a bunch of mangas that I'd much rather like to read but I had already dropped Demons back when I first bought it so dropping it again would make me feel really stupid which I probably am.
I just don't know what to do from here on out bros. I'm interested in russian /lit/ but I can't fucking finish this book for the life of me.
I've been telling myself for weeks to go to a library and force myself to binge read this book until I'm done but so far I couldn't even manage to do that
