What did this little chigga teach and why was ezra pound so obsessed with him?

pre-philosophical virtue ethics.

>> No.14722631

i read a book of correspondence between ezra and his chinese friends and it became increasingly obvious that he was a lunatic

he spent his life getting suckered by idiots like mussolini, fennelosa, eustace mullins etc. so confucius was one of his least harmful fixations

confucius just taught basic life rules like be nice and don't lie and cheat, the reason the chinese have spent more than two thousand years obsessed with the guy is because they're still incapable of applying his teachings

Wait so does Confucius apply any sort of axiomatic reasoning like the Western spirit(and Plato supplying the strongest example of rational ethics) or is he more, "be kind, it is better that way, more in line with our emotion"?

No, it's more akin to Aristotlean virtue ethics, their is a particular convergence in their respective ', doctrines of the mean', but without the syllogisms that is why I said 'pre-philosphical' .

Well it's not "pre-philosophical" but it does not involve such a strand of philosophical investigation.

Thanks for the links, I've currently just started with Aristotle and I'm reading the Poetics, would you advise any particular order?

>China has been in civil war for decades, everyone is miserable
>this wouldn't have happened if people didn't lie and listened to their dads and if nobody wanted to move up on the social hierarchy
