The story of those books/movies is supposed to be filled with subtle biblical references, or at least that was what a protestant girl told to me a while ago.
I haven't read the books because i always have low expectations for sagas, but judging by the movies i can't say i noticed many of those references. There are some hints here and there, but they are not subtle at all, and feel rather pretentious to be honest.

It would be an interesting topic to discuss, if anybody here has actually read those books, but people on /lit/ barely read these days.
