Arthur Machen, Robert E. Howard, Robert Bloch, Ligotti, Edgar Allan Poe, Clark Ashton Smith, Algernon Blackwood, M.R. James.
Check out Arkham Reporter on YouTube. He has some videos where he goes in depth on Lovecraft's close circle of writers who also worked on his Mythos.

Another x/phile here.
Unironically Mark Fisher, Nick Land and the CCRU, with a dash of Baudrillard and those other two french guys.
Study into the history of satanism, the development of modernity, the "postmodern condition", chaos theory in science, cybernetics, and the inevitable development of chaos magic. Listen to Karlheinz Stockhausen and Morton Feldman and early experimental electronics from the 1960s. Admire the artwork of Zdzisław Beksiński and H. R. Giger. Study the development of psychoanalysis, then read Jung. Then read the writings of Aleister Crowley, Kenneth Grant, then study the Temple of Set, O9A, Temple of the Black Light, and the Templum Falcis Cruentis.
Studying the Qlipoth will bring you to the edge of the Abyss. Putting what you've read into practice will be the plunge.
Study Freemasonry and the Egyptian Right. Read Psychonaught, then Gordon Wasson. Use psychedelics. Practice Sex Tantra.
Your live, like mine, may become a living breathing kaleidoscopic Lovecraftian delirium. The simulation will crack, and the Real will collide violently with the Outside.

miyazaki is one of the only interesting writers working in video games and the format he presents the story in is particularly interesting because it turns figuring/ finding the story itself into an interactive experience that combines the visuals of the digital world, the dialogue from the interactable characters, the miniscule amount of cutscenes given to you and the semi-reliable narrator that gives you these few sentences long breadcrumbs of lore at a time in items you find. Compiling it all together into this digital epic and trying to see the full picture is very interesting and engaging especially because he does seem to be an actually good writer, or at least knows how to craft something interesting, thematically rich and then present it in an aesthetic way
