shit, I've read literally every book on that list... minus 3. Clockwork or Slaughterhouse.

I guess Fahrenheit 451 would be the logical next step, if what you've read thus far is representative of where your interests lie. It is more boring than any of the 3 you've read though.

Personally, I'd recommend American Psycho or Lolita for a change of pace. They're both very entertaining.

Clockwork Orange

I've heard that Fahrenheit 451 isnt as good as the other dystopians I've read, and I'm burnt out on them anyway for now. I think I'm leaning towards American Psycho. Not sure I'd care for Lolita.

>Not sure I'd care for Lolita.

At least check it out before passing it off, its not considered one of the greatest 20th century novels for no reason. It may be a book about a pedo, but its certainly not a pedo book. The plot wasn't my thing either but Nabakov's writing brought a tear to my eye at one point. Anyway, American Psycho is a good time and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

That book is not what I would concider "starting" literature, every paragraph theres some archaic frontier terminology I have to look up or it bothers me.

I'm reading it rn, why would you say that? Because a major theme is that true knowledge exists only in the self?

OP here. I'm currently reading The Iliad and Edith Hamilton's Mythology alongside these. I'll read the Odessey next, then Herodotus' Histories and then Plato.
Yes it's high school lit but I never read any because my school was trash.

I think one of the characters in Slaughterhouse V says that everything there is to know about life is in TBK so maybe his interest will be piqued organically

Also you can skip Fahrenheit 451

Yeah, I watched The Breakfast Klub before and thought that it was a revelation. Now I just find it cringe-worthy.
