>destroys Plato
Not even remotely.

>> No.14635960

Nietzsche literally did not put forward a single logical argument in his entire body of work. He ranted and raved in a very poetic, symbolic way but an actual argument was never formed.

He's much closer to an artist than a philosopher. He certainly didn't "destroy" anyone, except maybe the Catholic Church.

agree with you that he was more of an artist than anything, though

He doesn't state 'this is my argument', but his statements clearly put forth propositions that can be argued

He is just him. He is not desperate to adhere to any genre. Even artist is too much of a confining term.

Did aristotle refute plato?
I started with the greeks and Platos idealism has helped me cope a lot. Now i'm at Aristotle and i'm panicking

>> No.14636295

No one respects aristotle. You'll be fine. And remember the stoics are like the My Chemical Romance of philosophy--no one respects them and anyone who does should be avoided.

Nietzsche is cringe. Id rather read Kierkegaard than Nietzsche if I was in the mood for some existential writings.

I don't agree with Nietzsche about some stuff but this really is what I like most about him, his shameless self-expression. I'm so tired of reading philosophers who spend the first 200 pages of their books preemptively attempting to debunk/analyze people they disagree with, instead of just putting forth their own worldview the way Nietzsche does. It's refreshing to read.

>We, however, would seek to become what we are, the new, the unique, the incomparable, making laws for ourselves and creating ourselves! And for this purpose we must become the best students and discoverers of all the laws and necessities in the world. We must be physicists in order to be creators in that sense, whereas hitherto all appreciations and ideals have been based on ignorance of physics, or in contradiction thereto. And therefore, three cheers for physics!

So why aren't you a physicist yet?
