It’s the same shit episode by episode and it has an embarrassing glacial pacing. It is confusing to pretend intellect and it’s so fucking annoying. The visual symbology is too loose and inconsistent and the tertiary characters were more interesting that the protagonists. Let’s not forget the cheesy comedy Nanami episode that serve absolutely no purpose but proving her character is rude to everyone except her brother.

If anything the show's flaw comes from the fact that symbolism is TOO consistent. The low budget shines plenty in the show's repetition of various scenes but they manage to put a purpose behind all of those, like the Demian quote that the council repeats in their elevator or the approach to the upside down castle. The show has buckets of meaningful symbolism related to growing adolescence if you care to search for it but, typical of the Japanese, it's intentionally obtuse about it at the best times. And the cow Nanami episode was pretty dumb. But I don't think it would be fair to downplay the show's wider artistic merit and industry influence.
