Lots of good support, I will begin setting it up. It will be the Massachusetts Literature Review.

@the first responder, please email me and we can discuss pragmatics for the first publication. The email for this will be MassLitReview@gmail.com.

To those looking to submit, my primary goal for this publication is anonymous work from anons on lit, from the Mass. area or related to the Mass area (if you are not from the Mass area, you can write something in prose or poetry that is within the massachusetts 'setting'). We will publish with initials / pseudonyms only and maybe last names in the Masthead. I'm very serious about this project and the final product will be a very well put together booklet issued to look like the New Criterion (good colors, weight of pages). I have access to a print shop to do this at at my university (harvard). I'll also share this with the Boston lit group if I can contact them :P Atticus message me

One woman in a literary journal isn't going to kill you or kill the fact that this project is created by men and features 99% men. You will survive. There's no reason to block people out from creativity. That's what the people you don't like do and by typing what you just did shows you're becoming no better than them. I believe you can be better than that. I know you can be. Hope you understand.

Holy shit. Lit quarterly person is a Canadian who takes pretty much anything, and you come along and try to create an American-themed - no, wait, it's worse than that - a state-themed competing product, and limit it to less than 7 million English speakers instead of the half billion the Canadian guy will allow in. If you had come out and said "I would like to start with the opening story being some Mass. lit" fine, whatever, I'd support you. But to come in to the other dude's thread for free PR and basically say "I'm making a new lit journal for a state of less than 7 million people P.S. it is for stories from the Mass. area primarily" is such a narrow-minded thing to do. You want to do that, fine, by all means, but don't hijack threads like this to do it. Go make your own thread, watch it hit 7 posts and die. At least the Canadian is going worldwide, like this board has.

If your goal is to be a good writer or write some memorable work that stands the test of time you can't be a pussy. All those "writers" write the same shitty stuff in the same narrow lane and none of them can say anything else. They have to compete on weird prose flourishes because they aren't allowed to tell truths about themselves if those truths make anyone else uncomfortable. You're much better off being a receptionist or something instead of a college professor. Both give you time to write, both pay the same, receptionist takes no student loans, and if you get canceled it's just a big outrage fueled ad for your work instead of losing your job.

Why is the expected wait time for a digital release for something of this nature weeks? I imagine it's likely so that the productions you already made have a chance to sell so you don't take as huge of a loss. Wouldn't a better way to do this be to make sales of the quarterly on another site before production and then use that to get a better estimate of how much you need to print or is the print minimum too high for that anyways. That way, you could print for those who want it and probably cut your losses as well as not feel the need to hold back a release for something you probably already have in a digital format on your computer so that someone doesn't have to pay for a community oriented project.

The project has always been about the hard copy rather than the online version because it's something tangible to have and keep.
Yes, it will make a lot more sense in the long-run to have a print-on-demand system, which the printers offer, but it's $250 and they take a cut of sales. So I'll have to see if the numbers are worth it based on the sales of this one.
