I've been reading pic related, its interesting, but riddled with contradictions and is mostly anecdotal. I'm looking for books written by non-biased authors. I read Victims of Yalta and its the same, Tolstoy doesn't even try and hide the fact that he's biased against the USSR essentially from birth. Can anyone recommend me some good authors who are actually only interested in divulging the true history? I'm interested in all topics, even prewar events, economics of the times etc.

You will literally never learn anything from mainstream histories of WWII. They all just list laundry lists of "X happened on X day" but they never go into the "why."
Pic related is basically the only book you'll ever need. It will throw your entire world upside down. Everything you think you know is wrong.

Writing about war? Good luck. Write if you find work.

I found this one to be really insightful. Most of the book is quotes from news articles and speeches from the time leading up to the war that I had never heard before. It has a bias, but very little commentary. Highly recommend. It is one of those books that got great reviews, then it just disappeared. I felt like no one else ever read it. But I have gone back to it again and again.

Both decisively refuted by the late John Lukacs. Irving, the "free speech martyr", sued Lukacs' publisher to have the parts where Lukacs criticises him removed from the British edition of The Hitler of History.

AJP Taylor is the only respectable historian listed in this thread who argued against the "mainstream" ww2 narrative, and this book is genuinely worth reading. Irving has just one positive attribute, and that is his ability to compile a huge amount of original research material overlooked by professional historians (interviews, etc.). It's just a shame he is so flimsy and dishonest when it comes to interpreting it.
