Long time ago I had an idea about a short story. I don't have either the skills nor the time to put it together.

It was about a boring protagonist, working a dull 9 to 5 job, average education and intellect and so on.

The protagonist is supposed to be single, have a good relationship with his/her family and a few good friends.

Going to or returning from somewhere he/she finds a lamp and, after rubbing it - wait for the cliché -, a djinn appears.

It should follows the legends and the protagonist must have three wishes. But the twist is that every wish must be followed by an awful not-intended consequence.

To exemplify:

Desiring to be a billionare ends up destroying, by greed, the family that was once loved.

Wanting to have sex with every hot girl in sight results in numbing the protagonists feelings to any human emotion.

Wishing to be worldwide famous is what destruct the friendships that was nurtured and cared.

The idea is that the good part of the wishes would appear instantly, but the terrible consequences should creep in as the story progresses. I would end the story having the protagonist ia a worst situation than started.

Anyhow, that was my idea. Bash it as you like or use it as you please.

that could be something. Those wishes sound really lame though, like a generic morality play. Unique wishes could say a lot about his character, and the unintended consequences could be interesting. Just my thoughts
