What have you read and what have you liked?

I have this thing where I become a near-hermit for months at a time doing nothing but read and then after I've returned to reality and relearned how to deliver social niceties I'm lauded for being well-read.

Well, not really. You also need to learn how to choose what to read.

From Zero to One by Peter Thiel
Musk's Biography
Hyperion (first 2 books) and other sci-fi, war fiction for guilty pleasure
Some investment books
Last serious book I read was crime and punishment, but it's not like you can discuss a book like this with a girl.
I want to get disciplined so probably going to read something related to that.

"Well-read" is synonymous with "well-rounded" you'll have to be knowledgeable about a wide variety of subjects.

you must possess desire to learn many things. to answer questions that burn a hole in your skull. but you don't want that. you want the status of "well-read man". without giving any thought to the substance of that status. you're a woman.

>> No.14519787

>>14519759
I don't want status, I literally just want to be well read.

If you want to show off, memorize philosophy/psychology/science. If you want to be a douchebag, write off as your own ideas and hope that nobody knows where they come from. If you don't want to show off, then it doesn't matter if you read or not. If you don't want to show off but want to be able to contribute with wisdom when the opportunity presents itself, forget about philosophy/psychology/science and focus on esoteric subjects, spirituality, astrology, etc. There is no wisdom to be had anywhere else, especially not in philosophy/psychology/science. These are pathetic attempts at explaining how the universe and humans work. But, remember, wisdom must always be simplified, as if you are speaking to a young child.
