Nook glowlight 3.

Cheaper than the competitors, has a "night mode" screen that's very nice on the eyes. epub is the default format. No issues.

Also nook simple touch is nice, super cheap ($20 on eBay), has a microsd slot, reads epubs.

I think the point that anon was trying to make was: There is no point in having a seperate device for reading if your are not going to use it exclusively for reading.
I appreciate the random info as I am a shameless trivia-slut, but I just don't see the connection between your factoid and the post you replied to.

Where do you guys get your e-books from? I've gotten some from b-ok.cc but for some reason finding a workable version of Lolita for my kindle was a huge pain. All the versions I could find had misspellings, word that were contracted to form non-words, and occasional missing characters. Not the best experience, for a while I thought it was part of the diary-concept. Anyone got any idea why this happened? Is the file based on some haphazard scan of a physical copy, or is it a problem with converting e-pub into mobi?

Samsung tab S2 8.0", pdf.
Perhaps I would prefer something else if I had experience, but that's what I bought 2-3 years ago and have been very satisfied and intending to use it until I die.

This is my topic. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?s=35d49e19c7f54417be4a8c057aa9e30a&t=322980
low contrast, blurry looking despite high res, and very ugly clunky software and lame hardware where buttons are a luxury and more than a few GB is also nonstandard. Doesn't get as dark as OLED either, anyone who reads in the sun has no friends.

>> No.14516642

The OCR sofware for converting the book is of poor quality. Use libgen maybe.
>>14516607
I also forgot to add that the hardware for phones is much better, the screens are much better and it is cheaper to buy a used phone with a good screen now and battery life is not a concern anymore, as it was when the kindle was released, which invalidates the usage of an ebook reader. I use epubs usually.

Yea this is great and all but this doesn't have much to do with why people don't want to read on their phones. It's about getting away from the dopamine sink that is a modern phone and getting a bit of peace without notifications, messages, and the like getting in the way.

I do wish my kindle had better contrast and a bit higher resolution though, and reading on my oneplus 7 pro is kind of great. Still really like my kindle though.
