Mythography's a genre, so there are very many books to choose from. For the Greeks Graves is pretty thorough (although I don't subscribe to his historically oriented theory) but I like Calasso's Marriage of Cadmus and Harmony best.
Classically, Ovid's Metamorphoses is the one I'll probably reread. --And Fasti too if Roman Holidays are of interest.. like the Fornicalia (Feb 17)
