There was a book about a mage or something that was chad as fuck and would fuck all kinds of women in a castle. As for the plot I forgot but it was a normal fantasy book not the /litrpg/ harem trash on the other thread. Cover of the book was of a castle, by some water I think.

Anyone know the book? It was not an older book. I think its also part of a trilogy.

Catanon, show yourself! You must answer for your crimes!

This is the single most cucked book that only a woman could ever aspire to write. This book is, in a way, an outstanding piece that was ahead of its time by decades. Impressive, really. It is everything I hate about modern literature, all disguised within a seemingly harmless cover. Please, take a minute to look at the cover. A strong man and a hot cat, completely destitute of gear, in an apparently desolate place, having no one else but each other. It speaks of a bonding between two different species that must find common ground in hopes of survival.

Nothing could be further from the truth. The man in the cover is not a strong character at all. He is, in fact, a slave. But not only a slave, for that would be a circumstance outside his control and he could not be faulted for it; thus, not content, the author also made him into a cuck. The ultimate cuck, if you will. I won't spoiler shit because I hope nobody ever read this garbage again, and if they do it is because they wish to do so with full knowledge of what's inside.

The main character is the cat lady there. She is a scholar and a map-maker. In one of her map-making journeys she meets another cat merchant and proceeds to fall in love with him. This merchant is the owner of the human on the cover. In a way or another, the human ends up teaching the cat lady his human language because she asked him to. 17 years later the cat-lady is married with three kids and the human is always willing to please his masters. One day the cat-lady gets screwed by her church for telling truths, after which the husband abandons her to her fate, upon which the cucklord is all to ready to make sure she is alright. He kisses her and gives her an erotic massage, ending up with an erection that prods her on the behind. The cat-lady, seeing that her little piggy is getting out of line, is quick to slash him with her claws, almost killing him on the spot, had he not stepped back. He gets upset, but not for too long, and is in no time groveling at her feet and making sure she is pleased in hopes of one day uttering the words "my wife's son". Of course this doesn't happen.

The church comes for her, killing some people. One of those was the human's daughter, that he had with another slave. We now have a character with nothing to lose. He is a slave, the woman he loves despises him as nothing more than an animal, and his daughter is dead. What does he do? Why, grovel, of course. Maybe he'll get that sweet pussy if he keeps doing it.

The book finally picks up at about 80%, when the male decides to (finally) escape. The reason: a number of human female slaves were pregnant from the usual cat-dickings, so, being a good cuck, his instincts to protect the offspring of other males kicks in. He meets some humans that aren't slaves who get pissed when they find out people are being enslaved. Unfortunately, the author thinks it's her job to cuck us one more time, and when we think the cat fucks are about to get their comeuppance, some other stupid humans get in the way because it's "wrong to interfere" with other species.

At the end of the book, the human male is still hung up on the cat-pussy that he'll never have, while she forgave the merchant that abandoned her to her fate. Conclusion:
Number of dickings had by cats: 0
Number of dickings had by humans: lots and lots

I'm not sure what you're upset about. Did you want to self-insert as the filthy manimal crouched bestially on the cover? The book isn't about him, it's about a pert young catwoman, full of life and sass, desired by all catmen. She indulges in the pleasures of flesh, erotically described by our friend Cynthia, and transitions from soft pawed temptress to lovable housecatwife.
>Number of dickings had by cats: 0
This is, of course, entirely wrong. Unless you need the, ah, dickers to be human for some odd reason.
This cuck business you're fixated on is just bizarre. Randy slaves can't be cucked by the mistress of the house.

You absolute maniac. The whole point was to post about a good book!
>so... it is a self insert thing? you don't like it because you don't want to empathize with the MC?
Why would I ever want to read a book about cucking? The whole point of books IS to empathize with characters! If I have no attachment to the characters or the plot, what the fuck am I reading it for? self-inserting has nothing to do with it. If all I wanted was a story, I'd ask a relative to talk to me about their boring day. And guess what, cucking _is not_ exciting. Besides, once I figured out the whole premise was, it became easy to guess the flow of the story. I knew that the male (which is a central character of the story, mostly by the end) would be fucked every step of the way and then I already knew how everything was going to end.
>The catgirl gets "Penised" though. I found it rather, uh, stimulating personally. :/
I thought it was implicit in the post that the dick was supposed to be human. Perhaps I was wrong.

Shifter novels are the modern-day equivalent of this shit you recommended. It's basically a romance book disguised as fantasy (usually urban fantasy) or sci-fi where the female lead hits all those checkmarks I cited. Think Twilight.

Did anyone actually read Ice? I got halfway through and yeeted it. I suppose there's some great revelation or twist at the end about the girl but the main character is so undeveloped outside of his sadistic tendencies that I can't understand him at all. It's like reading this happened then this happened, next this thing happened.

The plot jumping about in time was only mildly interesting and really just distracted from any investment I had built up in the story.

I'm guessing you lot picked it because it's called ice and its Christmas time.

well, your experience might vary from mine, but i thought that the cringy american identity politics in that book were way too much. within the first page you meet baru and her "two dads" and 10 pages later you have brilliant 12 year old baru outsmarting a dumb greedy evil representative of the evil colonizer empire in some truly cringeworthy and hamfisted dialogue.
i dropped the book about 20 pages in so i'm not exactly the most objective reviewer, but i thought it was insufferable and that it would only get worse as the book goes on.

I'm someone who likes him and he's very variable, Broken Empire is pretty hated because of how comically edgy it is, it actually makes it hard to maintain interest. This does get explained somewhat by the finale of book 1 but the sequels are less gripping imo.
Red Queens War is an attempt to write a more mature work in the same fantasy world and it largely works even if the shift is from edginess to borderline grating pessimism/cowardice.
Red Sister is a move into more traditional fantasy albeit one set in a world with a scifi/dying earth background. I like it best out of what I've read from him.

He's a solid writer overall but one who has yet to produce a really great standout work imo.

I'm not sure which volume(s) contain the Zothique stories but most earlier Smith stories are worth reading and the first volume of the Collected Fantasies would be a fine place to start. Alternatively, you could sample his work for a dollar with The Dark Eidolon and Other Fantasies on kindle. Zothique is just one setting/cycle and is a dying earth influenced supercontinent, Averoigne is a fantastic medieval France inspired province and the Hyperborea stories occur in a prehistoric lost continent influenced by Lovecraft and Howard. I just prioritized recommending the Zothique stories because they're the ones I enjoyed the most except for a handful of the Hyperborea ones.

Any isekai books written by a westerner but that also isnt some /litrpg/ erotica trash? I just like the idea of isekai. If not then alternate history books are fine. There was one where rednecks go back in time to the civil war with their automatic rifles or something. And one with a navy vessel or a base I think goes back in time and create their own nation. Is there a genre for super kitchen sink fantasy? What is it called?

Note- this isn't specifically for fantasy or sci-fi. This is more for things where it's a bit like modern fantasy, but with both sci-fi and fantasy elements or worlds attached. It might be modern fantasy but having magic AND psychics AND nonhuman races AND aliens AND super heroes. The main character tends to be some kind of post-human like a vampire, who then can learn several other skills or combine their abilities together with other post-human augmentations in a kind of super kitchen sink, super hero pulp thing.

Is there is a name for this kind of thing? It's mostly something I've seen for webcomics but there might be some books written in the same "genre".

Imager's probably my best rec for this, it's a hyper specific magic based around being able to remove/move small objects you can see and being able to create some small things.
First series is a cop story about a guy coming into his power, going to magic school and then solving political intrigue.
Second series (which fits what you want the most) is set in the past and is the guy who eventually founds said school figuring out how to use his powers to the fullest.
He starts off nearly killing himself to make coins and buy the third or fourth book in the sequence he's training troops on how to use the power in war.

Others that kinda fit:
Discworld-Rincewind novels
A company of strangers (not that good as a series but the mc is basically a D&D wizard who only has utility spells so it fits perfectly)
Spellslinger (kinda aimed towards YA but it's about a guy with incredibly limited magic in a world where magic is tied to your hometown working out how to use what little he has after being exiled)

im sure there's other stuff but I can't think of it right now

I am an uncultured pleb when it comes to Fantasy. What is wrong with Sanderson, specifically the Stormlight Archives? Shallan's chapters are insanely boring, not because she is necessarily a bad character, but because Kaladin, Dalinar and the rest are so much more interesting than her she is fucking boring in comparison. Is she the reason people here aren't a fan?

I like Sanderson overall and I think most of his hate is nonsense forced here by a few individuals when there're worse writers that the thread seems to like, but there's a lot to complain about with him.
The power scale in his story often slips to this point where there's over the top fantasy combat that rips you away from the actual narrative for nothing, thus the comparisons to shonen anime, since his characters will start screaming at each other while they throw around big magical sword swings. It's not inherently bad on its own, but it plays poorly with what I'd call a strength of his, which is more grounded consistent world building since it creates this awkward division in how much magic is supposed to be this structured science he likes it to be and how much it's supposed to be high mysticism in the setting.
His pacing his issues and you're often forced to drag yourself through long periods of transition to get into the meat of the story. He doesn't really understand how to build suspense, so you're not left anticipating, you're left tired, needing to move onto the next bit but unable to skip anything since he might try to slip something of note in slow chapters.
His worst offence is his awful dialogue though. He has some cool snips of heroic declarations, and then everything else is awful. He likes to include these witty characters who're witty because you're told they're sooooo witty, when they have nothing witty to say. They'll throw out some bit of a snark that reads like a teenager trying to bite back at his teacher and then everyone commends them, and you're left putting down the book so you can contemplate killing yourself for reading something so embarrassing.

But I mean, I do like him and I don't think you should stop. This just isn't a post meant to defend him so I'm not going into that.

Explain this to me: why the fuck here? Why would you talk about Sanderon here of all fucking places? The one place where instead of actual encouragement and advice you will get spammed by negativity? Why not go to arrfantasy instead, and read one of the literally hundreds, if not thousands of threads?

I don't talk about Sanderson here except now because an anon asked what's wrong with him, so I wrote a full post that's basically entirely bashing an author that I do like. I don't know what kind of assumption you're making when the clear opposite is on display.

I've seen single anons before carry on near ever present smear campaigns on other boards alone, two people is enough to keep a continual Sanderson hate train as it is. It's certainly not as if I don't see the reasons to dislike him, I outlined enough of them, or think that /sffg/ should think otherwise for some reason, it's just that there're countless shitty fantasy writers and the specific hatred for him around here is baffling by comparison when GRRM is evidently one of our favourites, more widely acknowledged, and has just as many problems. It's unnatural that Sanderson would be singled out.

I have just trained myself to appreciate artistic complexity over mindless tropes, whiny chosen ones, and idiotic, cliche plots.
