It's a good book independent of Anna's plot. I forget the other character's name, but he was written to be a caricature of Tolstoy and his desired family life. Wholesome, fulfilling. I liked his journey.

You have to remember Anna's journey is about a 'fallen woman', or one who defies society and plummets as a consequence of it.
