It is not about killing the ego, it's regaining control over it. Think of your smartphone, one of the most revolutionizing tools created. It holds all of human knowledge. You can learn anything at any time. An ego out of control would be the equivalent of mindlessly browsing facebook, twitter, porn and 4chan and succumbing to the dopamine feedback loops. Mindfulness is what we need. An ego death is the realization, the liberation of the ego, realizing its faults, its habits, its affect on the world surrounding us.
