just finished reading uncut version of pic related. This was the first Stephen King book I’ve ever read, it was pretty good and I’m looking for more of King’s stuff. Any suggestions?
I’ve been leaning towards Pet Cemetery or starting the Dark Tower series but I’m not sure if I should pick something else

Don't read Cell or IT.

I get IT, but what’s wrong with Cell? The premise sounds like the book would age like milk, is that it?

Read the first Dark Tower book then read someone else so you can savor it. Its ending is very powerful especially right off the back of The Stand. However it was written long before the other books and so trying to read them all in order is dissatisfying in a way that overshadows the first book's power. So just read the first, then take a break and come back later.

>However it was written long before the other books
To clarify, I mean that there's a jarring stylistic difference between book 1 and the rest, which I attribute to the great length of time between their writing.

More or less true, but the ending still sucks.

Swan Song had the better ending.

Read IT before the new movies came out. It's like 800 pages but I really thought it was good and a satisfying read. Cell on the other hand didn't make a lot of sense going in but I still thought it was alright

"It" was awesome. I've only read it and the stand and liked them equally well.

I liked The Stand, Salem's Lot, The Shining, and Needful Things. Haven't read too much else of King. Like you OP, thinking of starting the Dark Tower series. I think King's early stuff is pretty good, and his later stuff gets formulaic.

Books worth reading of his IMO:
'Salem's Lot
The Shining
Rage
The Long Walk
The Dead Zone
Firestarter
Roadwork
Cujo
The Running Man
Dark Tower series
Pet Sematary
Thinner
Misery
The Tommyknockers
Needful Things
Gerald's Game
The Green Mile
Desperation
The Regulators
Bag of Bones
Cell
Blaze
Under The Dome
11/22/63
Elevation
The Stand unabridged version is one of his best and my favorites but if I had to choose another one it would be It
Hope these recommendations help you OP

Daek tower series goes to shit after book 3 and only book 1 is "really" good, so I suggest you read something else.

interesting premise, with a couple of subtle foreshadowings, but it turns into a "our only hope is to kill the monster with electricity".

The Gunslinger if you want a western/more action.

The Talisman if you want more Americana epic.

Insomnia if you want to become a doomer.
