Sailor Moon has unironically been a massive influence on my understanding of philosophy and allowed me to engage with it on a deeper level than I would otherwise have been able to. Likewise, Utena became properly comprehensible to me when I further developed my ability to deal with concepts beyond what were conceptually preconceived and dynamically synthesize meaning. It hence achieves things that couldn't be properly done in Sailor Moon itself, though it isn't as 'dramatically good' on the whole, being mostly too abstract to work as powerfully on that leve.

Kant claimed that it wasn't possible for humans to have intellectual intuition because he couldn't think of how it was possible (Guenon succinctly and accurately flays him in 'Intro to Hindu Doctines' for wishing to impose the limits of his own ignorance upon others). The supreme irony is that Kant himself in his first critique admitted that God would have to have intellectual intuition because otherwise He would be subject to limits which could not be true as any true supreme God is unlimited. As the Upanishads state that God is really the inner Self of all beings it provides the explanation in accordance with Kant's thought for how they can experience intellectual intuition (i.e. it's really God inside their consciousness who has this intuition) but because Kant never left Konigsberg he never had the chance to be initiated into the metaphysical teachings and associated spiritual practices which allow someone to do this.

I treat them as polar opposites tho, their thoughts on causality and the limits of reason/experience are just too different. I do prefer Wolff's (Leibniz) take on metaphysics, his system seems to be the most solid one when traditional "axioms" like the principle of non-contradiction are asserted as valid.
And I would gladly read contemporary philosophers if I didn't consider my philosophy foundation to be lacking. I'm reading everything in chronological order while taking some small dips at works that I find interesting (Feyerabend). This means that before advancing to the next author I need to read at least his most important influences which is quite cumbersome at times.
