I'm looking for a book, and /lit/ is my last resort. It's from a leftist book, and contains a passage with something about how heroes revolting against corporations in movies makes the population apathetic to revolution. I thought it might be in a book from The Invisible Committee or The Situationist International, but I can't find it.
Help me /lit/, you're my only hope.

Mark Fisher's Capitalist Realism

This is called sublimated dissent, to my knowledge. The powers that be promote depictions of revolution and popularise virtue signalling with non issues and false dichotomies like veganism, social justice, climate change and the left-right political paradigm in order to make people feel like they're actually doing something meaningful when they're just playing themselves.

You forgot "capitalism vs communism" in your list of non issues and false dichotomies.

Where are these marxists in Hollywood? Hasidic Hollywood might be a better name, most of it is them and their collection of goy puppets. None of those rich people seem to be calling for radical economic reforms and redistribution of wealth, just hyper individualism. Break out of the false dichotomy, anon.

That's the point of this text. The irony of Hollywood promoting anti-capitalism, when Hollywood it self is the mother lode of capitalist ideology.

Buddy they are the rich. Its what I've been saying all along. They put on the show to make it seem like they're on the side of radicals, but what self respecting jew would want their riches redistributed millions of poor blacks, rednecks and latinos? So they can stick it to the Republicans? To the "Nazis"? They dont give a fuck, they pretend like they do. Sexual degeneracy, cancel culture, the stifiling of free speech and the death of art and beauty is what you should be concerned about when it comes to Hollywood and all the other things you might call "marxist". Communism is a dead meme and the powers that be are moving onto soft socialism to maintain a comfortable life for as many worker bee consumers as possible to maintain their system.

I totally get where you're coming from believe me, I was there for years. This goes so much deeper than right vs left, and communism is just the boogeyman they want you pointing at.

This Anon is correct but I disagree on the phrasing "goes deeper." We're asking American anons to explain their world through the perspective of class, not at all a default but not secret either, largely because of how retardedly conspicuous many players have become. The upper social caste is not given much thought in the civics or histories or day to day banter. Maybe if you're a "Marxist" type you're ahead of the rest and can see these essential elements better.
I am speaking as a non- Marxist American rube when I say the issues of class have been forced upon us by the moves of that upper caste. There's no explanation to US behaviors, policies, strategies, that do not place that upper caste as the driver of eternal war, the devaluation of all human life and the destruction of life on Earth. The price points, for instance, of strawberries are chosen by that caste, not the marketplace, which only implements quasi-legally the bloody operation of their harvest. Each carton of even American-grown strawberries originate from the diffuse orchards of shadey underwear decorated desert rape trees, each berry costing the berry eater some nonzero value of women and children pressed into the clay cobbled ground as their traffickers enjoy some of the benefits of the status quo kept in steady state by that same upper caste that loves testing its profitable drugs, legal and otherwise, on the same powerless people in some comparatively obscure location, finding in their social peers of other brutal nation's the invitation to use some of the human beings who live their for the pleasure of US investors.
The saving grace is the scale of their bungle. Even if no one in English writes for the record what they did, other places will take note and find the craven Judases of the US upper caste as useful characters in Chinese, Turkish, Brazilian, Japanese and Persian stories about our time.

It can begin as innocently as a buyer and a seller, the distance becoming more trivial by every day of increasing human cleverness. But once the money is in play, the Homo Economicus, should he wish to survive on this new road, learns quickly how swerve and maneuver around others, and in the dodging and parrying there's increasingly little thought given to the fates of the vendors parked along the now disused route, the old ways that now bear less fruit, afterall the new ways have been spilling a bounty as in the Fishes and the Loaves, or so we're tricked. There is a ruthlessness to the Homo Economicus, at least the one built by the new economics guiding our now. This creature can compartmentalize the most brutish concentrations of helpless peoples, come to feel emotionally validated by the dire conditions befalling contemporaries because of where they fall in a highly effective morality play at work in the minds of the well-tutored Homo Economicus: that of if you are weak, you are doomed anyway, so what of it if they crush you? Your being raped to death in a pile of garbage is the result of all your ancestors collective stupidity, unworthiness, corruption, all of these being of course a maddening projection of the Homo Economicus' wretched spirit, a tarred and syrupy aura, fearing, one of their only fears, really, besides ever not being at the top of the game, is being somehow a parasite, a clinger and not a foundational stake in the civilizational project. That brutality serves the great stories of patriarchs, family lines, visions and projects and martyrdoms, Eulogies, statuaries, and what were the rest of us fuck bunny peasants and layabouts doing anyways? We might as well dig a mine or a canal or a trench.

It seems Homo Economicus is doomed to settle upon a deep if subtle loathing of all others, a passing grace given to whoever is at the other end of an economic interaction but otherwise everything else is profane, disgusting maybe made so because its judged as unnecessary, or not as sparkly or innovative. Those shrewd Israelis inventing new ways to fizz our drinks, and those monuments to engineering, basically flying pyramids that are rebuilt between each flight, the stealth bombers. Pressed upon by the Hauntological subtext, Homo Economicus probably gets that much more pissy about there not being flying cars delivering sex droids or at least a well-developed cactus or dendrophilic ecosexual fetish, at least fucking something alive in the nonexclusive unprivacy of your antidomicile, not today's portable petrochemical "pocket pussy," which one is expected to jubilantly lube up with even more petrol jellies all so you can really go to town on yourself and obsequiously climax and therefore inoculate yourself against stirring against the elaborate mechanisms controlling not simply access to pussy, foremost always on the minds of many, but all economic opportunity. And this sort of cycle wheeled by lust is geared to also those of sugar and ethanol and whatever other drugs have been brought to market. These all exert something upon the mind and spirit and they all make one quite eager for one of those things, those stimuli and all these people are in the way or else just not the thing you really want. And it seems fundamentally human to want those things for our selves too, that's certainly not evil or even tawdry in itself. But enter then some of the interesting social protocols of Christianity, that of universal love and notably forgiveness, that seem to act as a kind of reset algorithm where we'd otherwise be at eachother's throats all the time. One can debate how effective the programming is, but I am lately thinking to the extent one can truly try to radically love the stupid, idiot rabble that doesn't deserve it, one does seem to be scouring away the modern evils, maybe rebuilding a bit of your soul, wave by wave of forcefully seeing the person and coming to love them. You find in doing this that there is an incredible amount of winding up done to us. We are so programmed to loathe and hate that it seems an indelible condition born of pop-culture, the thing previously thought of as innocent cotton candy that, maybe in extreme situations was bad but otherwise was fun and hey, what's wrong with that? Our own culture's use as a cynical vehicle for setting people against one another should really push us somewhere new, maybe even if it makes us cringe.
